Cara Penggunaan Present Continuous Tense

Present Continuous Tense
Present Continuous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang sedang terjadi pada saat ini. Tense ini menggunakan to be dan Verb-ing. Lihat penjelasan di bawah ini.
Pola
(+) Subject + to be + Verb-ing + CYou are eating an apple now.
(-) Subject + to be + Not + Verb-ing + C
You are not eating an apple now.
(?) To be + Subject + Verb-ing + C
Are you eating an apple now?
Penggunaan
Kita menggunakan Present Continuous Tense untuk menyatakan sesuatu yan terjadi pada saat ini. Penjelasan lengkapnya adalah sebagai berikut:1. Untuk sesuatu yang sedang terjadi saat pembicara membicarakan hal tersebut.
Contoh:
He is studying English in the classroom now.
2. Untuk sesuatu yang terjadi sebelum dan sesudah waktu tertentu.
Contoh:
When Dad got home, Mom is cooking.
3. Untuk sesuatu yang bersifat sementara.
Contoh:
Kalista is in University now. She is studying Business Management.
4. Untuk sesuatu yang baru dan berbeda dengan sebelumnya.
Contoh:
These days, young people are playing on their cell phones instead of reading books.
5. Untuk menunjukkan sesuatu yang berubah atau berkembang.
Contoh:
My cooking skill is improving.
6. Untuk sesuatu yang terjadi secara terus menerus.
Contoh:
We are always helping each others.
Catatan: Kita biasanya menggunakan kata “always”.
Adverb of time
Kata keterangan waktu yang digunakan untuk Present Continuous Tense adalah:Now, right now, at the moment, etc.
