Conjunction adalah kata penghubung. Fungsi dari kata penghubung itu sendiri ialah untuk menghubungkan suatu kata dengan kata yang lain, atau suatu kalimat dengan kalimat yang lain.

Beberapa contoh kata penghubung dalam Bahasa Inggris diantaranya:

Perbedaannya adalah frase penghubung sendiri terdiri dari beberapa kata, dan umumnya tidak digunakan untuk menghubungkan suatu kata dengan kata yang lain, tetapi digunakan untuk menghubungkan suatu kalimat dengan kalimat yang lain.

Contoh:

As soon as she hears her phone ringing she goes to hospital to see her child.

That dog won’t leave even if you throw it with a stone.

He always talks as if he knew everything.

I took every test so that I could graduate immediately.

Coordinating Conjunctions

Coordinating conjunctions adalah jenis kata penghubung yang digunakan untuk menghubungkan suatu kalimat dengan kalimat yang lain, suatu klausa dengan klausa yang lain, atau suatu kata dengan kata yang lain yang memiliki kesetaraan.

Beberapa contoh Coordinating conjunctions adalah:

And, for, or, but, also, so, or, nor, yet, either . . . . or, neither . . . . nor.

Contoh dalam kalimat:

I’d like to order a burger and a glass of iced milk.

I need to choose between going to party or going to cinema.

I want to go to the party but my mom asks me to help her.

Subordinating Conjunctions

Subordinating conjunctions adalah sebuah kata penghubung yang digunakan untuk menghubungkan dua buah klausa, yaitu dependent clause dengan independent clause atau disebut juga main clause.

Beberapa contoh kata penghubung subordinating conjunctions adalah:

if, how, while, whether, after, as, because, though, before, till, that, where, when, although, unless.

Contoh penggunaan dalam kalimat:

She was cry because her mom passed away.

I love the place where the grass is green.

If the sun shines, I will wash the laundry.

I hate the moment when people stare at me.

I will keep trying till I make it.

They will go camping while the weather is good.

She went to school though she was sick.

I finish my job although I am exhausted.
