Kadang membingungkan saat kita harus mengidentifikasi suatu kata, apakah kata tersebut kata sifat (adjective) atau sebuah kata keterangan (adverb).

Keduanya memang terlihat mirip, tapi ada perbedaanya. Seperti apa perbedaan tersebut?

Contoh:

He is a smart boy.
(Dia anak pintar)

My car is really fast.
(Mobilku benar-benar cepat)

She has a big house.
(Dia memiliki sebuah rumah yang besar)

Biasanya kita menambahkan akhiran -ly pada kata sifat untuk membuat kata tersebut menjadi kata keterangan.

Contoh:

He opened the door slowly.
(Dia membuka pintu dengan pelan)

The wind is blowing softly.
(Angin menghembus dengan lembut)

Raisa sang beautifully.
(Raisa bernyanyi dengan indah)

Pengecualian

Contoh:
